SBI PO Selection Process 2023: The State Bank of India prescribes the selection procedure for SBI Probationary Officers (PO) in its official notification. Candidates planning to apply for this position should be aware of the selection process in order to pass the exam with ease. The hiring process involves three stages, namely, the Preliminary exam, Mains exam, and Psychometric Test (Group Discussion/Interview).

SBI PO Recruitment Phases 2023

The SBI PO 2023 notification is expected to be released soon. The following are the phases for the selection of Probationary Officers:

Candidates who will obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the prelims exam will be eligible to attempt the mains exam. Similarly, those who obtain the minimum cut-off in the mains exam will qualify for the final phase, i.e. Interview.

SBI PO Selection Phase 1: Prelims Exam

The first stage for SBI PO 2023 recruitment is the Prelims exam. The Prelims exam has three sections: English, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. The total time duration of the examination is one hour.

The questions will be multiple choice, with the applicant selecting one correct answer from a list of five. The candidate will receive one mark for each correct response, but 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer; however, no marks will be subtracted for an unattempted question. SBI PO Selection Phase 2: Mains Exam

Candidates who successfully clear the SBI PO Preliminary Exam will only be eligible to attend the Mains Exam. This exam consists of an objective & descriptive section. 

  • The objective test will include a total of 155 questions covering four sections.
  • The time duration for the objective test will be three hours.
  • There will be a sectional time for the objective test.
  • For each incorrect response, 0.25 marks will be deducted.
  • The descriptive test will include 2 questions to be completed in a duration of 30 minutes.
  • The descriptive test will be held right after the objective test.

SBI PO Selection Phase 3: Group Discussion and Interview

A candidate who passes both the SBI PO 2023 Prelims and Mains exams will be invited to a GD-PI session, where they will be interviewed by a panel of selectors regarding their previous experience and questions about General Knowledge and the Banking Sector will be asked. It is critical for a candidate to pass the interview process in order to be selected for the PO post.

Documents Required for SBI PO Selection Process 2023

Here is the list of essential documents that the applicants must carry for document verification. Candidates must ensure they bring original documents as well as self-attested photocopies. They must carry the following documents:

  • Printout of SBI PO Interview Admit Card.
  • Proof of Date of Birth (as specified in SSC/class 10th certificate)
  • Hard Copy of Online SBI PO Application Form.
  • Identification Proof with Photograph accepted by SBI (Aadhar Card, Pan Card, etc.)
  • Educational Documents 
  • Caste certificate as per the categories issued by competent authority as designated by the Government of India. (if applicable)
  • A disability certificate issued by the District Medical Board in case of persons with a disability must be carried along with the other documents. (if applicable)
  • Ex-Servicemen are required to produce a copy of the Service or Discharge book besides pension payment order and documentary proof of rank previously / currently held at the time of the interview.
