How To Prepare for IBPS PO in One Month?

The following tips will assist candidates in preparing for the IBPS PO 2023 exam in a month.

1. Be Thorough With the Syllabus

The first thing that you need to know is the IBPS PO Syllabus. As mentioned above, there are three sections in the Prelims. You need to know what each section deals with and the different topics under them. Having a proper idea about the topics from which questions are asked in the exam will help you plan your preparation better.

The English Language section tests your command of English grammar, comprehension and vocabulary. The Quantitative Aptitude section tests your hold over elementary Mathematics – Class 10 level basic Mathematics. The Reasoning Ability section tests your reasoning and analytical skills.

2. List Out the Easy & Difficult Chapters

Once you know the IBPS PO syllabus, you need to list out the chapters that are easy and difficult. For your convenience, we are listing the easy and difficult chapters below, but you can modify them based on your strengths and weaknesses.

3. Create a Timetable

Once you know the syllabus and the easy and difficult topics, you must create a proper timetable for the entire month. While creating the schedule, consider all the practical aspects, like your daily routine, office hours (if you are working), needs, and convenience. Once you create the schedule, you have to follow it religiously. So, create a realistic one. The easy topics shouldn’t take more than 10-12 days to finish if you study and practice them attentively. You can then spend the rest of the days mastering the difficult topics, revising, and taking mock tests.

If you face difficulty preparing a plan, follow the schedule below for 30 days of IBPS PS Prelims preparation.

4. Develop Reading Habits

This is very important, as two of the three sections of the IBPS PO Prelims need reading to understand the theory. The English Language section needs one to read regularly to understand and master the rules of grammar and their usage, to improve vocabulary, and to increase the speed of reading so that one can answer the Para-Jumbles and Comprehension Tests without spending too much time. The Reasoning Ability section has certain topics that require one to understand the theory first and then move on to solving questions. So, spend a couple of hours daily reading.

5. Clear the Basics

Without having the basics clear or knowing the theory behind the concepts, you won’t even be able to identify what is being asked in the question. But do not take too much time to clear your basics. Please start with the easy topics listed above and finish them as early as possible. Because the difficult topics will require more time to read and understand, highlight important points like formulas, steps to solve problems, shortcuts, tricks, specific rules, etc.

For Quantitative Aptitude, you need to clear the basics and have a proper idea of what each of the topics means.

6. Memorise the Formulas & Steps To Solve Problems

All the formulas for the Quantitative Aptitude section should be at your fingertips. Practice them if necessary so that you don’t forget them. For the English Language section, memorizing all the grammatical rules may not be possible. But they should be on your mind, and you must be in a position to identify them (or the errors) while reading a particular sentence. For Logical Reasoning, you should understand the steps to solve the problems.

7. Practice in a Time Bound Manner

While memorizing all this information might be difficult, you will find it easier when you practice side-by-side. Most of the remaining days should be spent practising because, at the end of the day, it is your ability to solve questions that will matter most. Practice for 3-5 hours every day. Start off with the example problems and then move on to other questions of increasing difficulty level. As you practice, you must remember that speed is just as important as accuracy.

You need to finish each of the sections within 20 minutes. So, maintain a balance between speed and accuracy. The more you practice, the better you get at solving questions. Solve previous year questions as well. This will give you an idea about the nature of questions asked in the paper, and then, you can focus more on those specific types of questions.

8. Take Mock Tests

While doing all the above-mentioned things will help you improve the individual sections, you also need to improve your overall test-taking strategy. Practising and solving questions for individual sections is easy, but when it comes to taking the exam with all three different sections, the performance in one section will impact the other. So, you need to take a sufficient number of IBPS PO mock tests so that you get used to taking tests, dealing with the pressure of exams, and building your stamina and concentration.

Taking tests also helps identify your weak areas – topics that need more revision and practice, gaps in your time management and question selection, etc. You can then work on them and improve, helping you develop overall. Make sure you develop a proper plan to take the exam as you take mock tests – which section and which questions you will attempt first, how to utilize your time, etc.
