ICSE Syllabus for Class 10 2019 | The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) board conducts ICSE Class 10th exam every year to qualify students for the intermediary. The exam is conducted in offline mode and comprises three groups consisting of various subjects. Some subjects are considered under the 80% + 20% marking scheme while some falls under the 50% +50 % marking scheme.
Students are to attempt the exam for a total of seven subjects. It is to be noted that 4 compulsory subjects are to be chosen from Group A and 2 optional subjects are chosen from Group B and 1 optional subject from Group C. The final score for any subject is a combination of both external and internal marks. However, external marks will be rewarded by the ICSE board and internal marks will be rewarded by the school or institutional authorities.

- A) English Language (Paper- 1)
This paper will be based on sections like story writing, fill in the blanks, composition writing, E-Mail or Letter Writing, Read and Answer section, Meaning of the words, Make sentences, Rewrite sentences as per the instructions. The exam paper will be of 80 marks. However, 20 marks will be rewarded as the maximum internal score. The internal assessment will be based on speaking skills, class assignments and performance.
- B) Literature in English (Paper- 2)
The question paper will be of 80 marks. Whereas, 20 marks will be provided by the internal authorities of the school or the institution itself. Internal marking will be based on the assignment, speaking skills, and proactivity.
This paper will consist of the following sections-

- III- Prose
Note: Both papers of English will have 2 hours of duration.

A) Indian Languages
The paper will be available in various languages like Ao- Naga, Assamese, Bengali, Dzongkha, Garo, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Khasi, Kokborok, Lepcha, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Mizo, Nepali, Odia, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Tangkhul, Telugu, Urdu or any other language of Indian community which is approved by the Council of ICSE.
The paper will have 3 hours of duration under which students are supposed to solve 2 sections of the paper. Each section will have 40 marks as the maximum score.
