ICSE Class 9 Syllabus: The Council of Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) prescribes the syllabus for Class 9. All schools affiliated with the board must follow the syllabus to know what chapters are included. The syllabus is designed to develop conceptual understanding and practical skills in students. ICSE Syllabus for Class 9: All Subjects

The syllabus is an important study resource for students to refer to before starting their studies. The syllabus aims to cover topics that help students get an in-depth understanding of the concepts and also their practical applications. Students of ICSE Class 9 have eleven subjects to choose from.

The Physics, Chemistry, and Biology papers have a time duration of 2 hours, whereas Mathematics is conducted for 2.5 hours. Indian Language has a duration of 3 hours. ICSE Class 9 English Syllabus (Paper-I)

The English Language Paper-I is conducted for 80 marks in the final exam, and 20 marks are allocated for projects or class tests. It has four broad sections – Composition, Letter, Unseen Passage, and Grammar. Multiple topics will be there in the essay and letter section, and students will have to choose any one topic from each section. The ICSE 9th English Language syllabus is given below:

  • Composition writing of about 300 to 350 words
  • Letter writing
  • Write a notice-based text and email on any specific topic
  • Unseen prose passage
  • Functional grammar

ICSE Class 9 English Literature Syllabus (Paper-II)

The English Language Paper-II is conducted for a total of 100 marks – 80 marks for the final exam and 20 marks for class tests or projects. The subject has three broad sections – Play or Drama, Prose, and Poem. The detailed ICSE 9th English Literature syllabus is as under:
