JoSAA Registration and Choice Filling 2022: Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) registration and choice filling 2022 process commenced on September 12, 2022. Candidates who qualified through the JEE Advanced 2022 exam could participate in the JoSAA registration 2022 and the choice-filling process. The authorities have announced the complete JoSAA Counselling Schedule 2022, which candidates can check within the article.

The first round of mock seat allotment commenced on September 18, 2022, and the second round started on September 20, 2022. The third round of seat allotment results was released on October 3, 2022. JoSAA Counselling Registration: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who have filled out the application form for JoSAA counselling know the eligibility criteria before they commence their JoSAA 2022 registration. These eligibility criteria, as prescribed by the official authorities, are given below:

  • Qualifying for JEE Advanced 2022 for various academic programs (excluding the preparatory courses) at IITs. OR;
  • Qualification in JEE Advanced 2022 for preparatory courses at IITs and must have a satisfactory performance in Class 12 (or equivalent) examinations. OR;
  • If a candidate is willing to appear for B.E or B. Tech Program, then they should adhere to the following points:
    • A rank in JEE Main 2022 Paper-1 for B.E./B.Tech. Programs at NITs, IIITs, and Other-GFTIs
    • Passed Class 12 (or equivalent) exam with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subjects.
  • If any candidates are willing to apply for the Architecture Program, then they should read the following points,
    • Secure a rank in JEE Main 2022 Paper-2 for B. Arch. with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics for programs at NITs, IIEST, IIITs, and Other-GFTIs. 
    • Secure a rank in JEE Main 2022 Paper-3 for B. Planning with Mathematics as a compulsory subject for programs at NITs, IIEST, IIITs, and Other-GFTIs.

If the candidates fail to fulfil the eligibility criteria as prescribed above, they will lose the chance of admission. Before filling out the JoSAA registration form, make a note of the following points:

JoSAA Counselling Registration and Choice Filling Process 2022

The conducting authorities initiated the JoSAA registration and choice-filling process for JoSAA counselling after the announcement of JEE Advanced Result on September 12, 2022. The registration portal was available till September 18, 2022. Candidates could register for JoSAA and fill in their choices online on the official website.

Candidates who are qualified in JEE Main 2022 or JEE Advanced 2022 will be considered eligible for registration for the counselling procedure. In order to fill out the registration form to fill the choice, candidates will be required to follow the below-mentioned steps: 

JoSAA Registration 2022

Completing the JoSAA registration is the first step; the candidates will have to complete the registration process by following the steps given below:

  • 1st Step: Go to the official website of JoSAA 2022 at josaa.nic.in.
  • 2nd Step: Scroll down and click on the “Online Registration and Choice Filling” link.
  • 3rd Step: Login using the JEE Main 2022/JEE Advanced 2022 application number and password.
  • 4th Step: Go to the Candidate’s Profile. Basic details of the candidates, such as nationality, state code of eligibility, gender and contact detail, will be displayed on the screen. Candidates will have to check and reconfirm it. No personal information, except for contact information, can be modified by the candidates while registering.
  • 5th Step: Click on “Submit Changes”.

JoSAA 2022 Choice Filling

After completing the registration, the candidates must fill in their choice of courses and colleges from the list of available institutes there. The courses and colleges for which the candidates will be eligible according to their qualifications are listed while filling out the choice. The choices of courses and colleges have to be selected in the order of preference.

Candidates must fill in the choice of courses carefully because once the confirmation is done, then they will not be allowed to make changes. Arrangements of choices as per their preferences can be done by the candidates.

JoSAA 2022 Choice Locking

In the end, the candidates will have to lock in their selected choices. The choice locking window was available till September 21, 2022 (till 5.00 p.m.). The candidates must note that no changes can be done once the candidates lock in their choices. This is why Embibe recommends double-checking their preferences before they click on the final submit button. There is no requirement of taking any printouts of the locked choices.

JoSAA Rank List 2022

Upon completing the JoSAA registration and choice-filling process, Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will release the rank list of JoSAA 2022. Candidates can check the same online mode on the official website of the conducting university. A separate rank list will be published for different categories. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority will prepare a rank list on the basis of marks secured by the candidates in JEE Main 2022 or JEE Advanced 2022. JoSAA Registration 2022: Mock Allotment

The official conducting authority will prepare and release the result of JoSAA 2022 mock allotment rounds to help the candidates know their admission chances into their choice of colleges. The first round of mock allocation commenced on September 23, 2022.

Candidates must note that mock allotment is not the final seat allotment; they will be given enough time to make the necessary changes in the order of preference. After mock allotment, no candidates will be allowed to make any changes in the choice of colleges and courses.

JoSAA Counselling 2022

The eligible candidates are currently participating in the counselling of JoSAA 2022. Only after participating in the counselling process will the candidates get allotted to the participating institutes. To complete the counselling 2022 processes, candidates must complete important steps such as JoSAA registration, choice filling, mock allotment, final allotment and more.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority will conduct a total of seven rounds of JoSAA counselling 2022 to provide admissions to all eligible candidates. The allotment results will be announced online after releasing the JoSAA Mock Allotment 2022, and candidates will download their provisional allotment results using the required credential. After the mock allotment is published, the candidates can modify their previously selected preferences.

JoSAA 2022: Tie-Breaker Rule

At the time of JoSAA counselling 2022, if two or more students of the same category secure the same rank and the number of seats is filled, then the tie-breaking rule will be applicable to break the tie. Admission to those students will be made by extending the number of seats for that particular rank.

JoSAA Seat Allocation 2022

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority is releasing the result of seat allocation as per the schedule of JoSAA registration 2022. Candidates can check the same online mode. Candidates will be allotted seats on the basis of their merit in JEE Main 2022/JEE Advanced 2022, seat and college preferences, category, and availability of seats. To check the seat allocation result, candidates must log in using their roll number and password.

The candidates allotted seats will have to download their provisional allotment letter and pay the seat acceptance fee of Rs. 35,000 using the available payment method. After that, the candidates will have to verify their documents at the Reporting Centre (RC). After releasing the result of the JoSAA 2022 seat allocation, candidates can opt for any of the following options: 

  • Freeze: This option is provided to those candidates who are satisfied with their allotted seat and do not wish to participate in further rounds of counselling.
  • Float: If the candidates want to accept the allotted seat but want to upgrade it to their preferred institutes or courses, then they can opt for this option.
  • Slide: The candidates who choose this option will confirm their allotment but will also be open for admission into a different branch offered in the same institute.
  • Withdraw: If a candidate does not feel satisfied with the allotted seats, then they can go for the option of withdrawing.

Documents Required at the JoSAA Counselling Reporting Centre

Candidates must bring the original copy of the required documents and a set of self-attested photocopies to the reporting centre. After document verification, the Reporting Centre will retain self-attested photocopies of the documents, while the original documents will be returned. The list of required documents for NIT+GFTIs and IITs is given below:

  • Three passport-size photographs identical to the one uploaded during JEE Main application form
  • Class XII performance check (Check Format)
  • Provisional seat allotment letter
  • Undertaking by the candidate (Check Format)
  • Proof of seat acceptance fee payment by online net banking of State Bank of India (SBI), debit cards issued ONLY by SBI, and e-Challan by SBI [For SC/ST/PwD: Rs. 15,000/- For others: Rs. 35,000/-]
  • Photo identity card [issued by govt. agency/last attended school/Class XII admit card]
  • Admit card of JEE (Main) 2022
  • Scorecard of JEE (Main) 2022
  • Date of birth proof (Class X marks sheet)
  • Class XII (or equivalent) board mark sheet. If available, pass certificate too.
  • Medical certificate [format is given in Annexure 8 of JoSAA Business rules]
  • Category certificate (OBC-NCL/SC/ST), if applicable (Check Format)
  • PWD Certificate (if applicable) 
  • OCI certificate or PIO card (if applicable)
  • Registration-cum-locked choices for seat allotment.

Note: “State code of eligibility” is determined using a qualifying examination certificate. Indian nationals who passed the qualifying examination from Nepal/Bhutan or an institution abroad will be required to carry a passport. The permanent address given in the passport will determine the state code. The candidates having SSC from the National Open School must bring proof of the place of the examination centre to determine the state code.

Upon completion of the document verification, the candidates must report to their respective allotted institutes and confirm their admission. The candidates must also pay the required fee at the allotted institute.
