## NCERT Class 8 Science Chapter 11 Solution Force And Pressure Summary

The CBSE Class 8th Chapter 11 is all about Force and Pressure. Here you will learn what force and pressure are. Force can be both a push and a pull and it arises due to the interaction between two objects. You will learn the various characteristics of force like force can change the state of motion of an object and its shape, and that it has both magnitude and direction. You will also learn about contact forces (muscular force, friction, etc.) and non-contact forces (magnetic force, gravitational force, etc). Lastly, you will learn about pressure – the pressure exerted by liquids and gases and atmospheric pressure.

## FAQs on NCERT Class 8 Science Chapter 11 Question Answer

The frequently asked questions regarding Class 8 Science Chapter 11 Force & Pressure NCERT Solutions are given below:

Q1. What are the topics covered in NCERT Class 8 Science Chapter 11 Force and Pressure?
A: The NCERT Class 8 Science Chapter 11 contains exercises: (1) Force – A Push or a Pull, (2) Forces are due to an Interaction, (3) Exploring Forces, (4) A Force can Change the State of Motion, (5) Force can Change the Shape of an Object, (6) Contact Forces, (7) Non-Contact Forces, (8) Pressure, (9) Pressure Exerted by Liquids and Gases, and (10) Atmospheric Pressure.

Q2. What is the use of NCERT Class 8 Science Chapter 11 Force and Pressure Solutions?
A: Chapter 11 Class 8 Science Solutions can be used as a reference as you solve the questions on your own. Also, these will help in quick revision of the Force & Pressure concepts before a class test or your final exam.

Q3. What is the effect of pressure?
A: Force can change the shape of an object: Here are two simple examples (i) When you apply force on an inflated balloon by pressing it using your hand from both sides, the force of pressure changes the shape of the balloon. (ii) You can change the rubber band and spring shape by stretching it in the opposite direction.

Q4. What is the answer to Class 8 Science book Chapter 11 activity 11.1?
A: Table 11.1 gives some examples of familiar situations involving the motion of objects. You can add more such situations or replace those given here. Try to identify action involved in each case as a push and/or a pull and record your observations. One example has been given to help you. Identifying Actions as Push or Pull.

Q5. What is the relation between pressure, force and area?
A: We know that A=1, P=F means that pressure equals the magnitude of the normal force acting on a unit surface area in contact with the force.

Q6. What is activity 11.8 Class 8 Science Solutions?
A: The amount of bulge in the rubber sheet increases with the height of the water column in the pipe. Thus, the pressure exerted by water at the bottom of the container depends upon the height of its column.

Question & Description of Class 8 Science Activity 11.8
Take a transparent glass tube or a plastic pipe. The length of the pipe/tube should be about 15 cm and its diameter should be 5-7.5 cm. Also, take a piece of a thin sheet of good quality rubber, say, a rubber balloon. Stretch the rubber sheet tightly over one end of the pipe. Hold the pipe in the middle, keeping it in a vertical position (Fig. 11.6). Ask one of your friends to pour some water into the pipe. Does the rubber sheet bulge out? Note also the height of the water column in the pipe. Pour some more water. Observe again the bulge in the rubber sheet and the height of the water column in the pipe. Repeat this process a few more times. Can you see any relation between the amount of the bulge in the rubber sheet and the height of the water column in the pipe?
