NCERT Solutions for Class 10 Maths Chapter 4: Quadratic Equations: NCERT Maths Class 10 Chapter 4 comes in as Quadratic Equations. Quadratic equations are stated as the polynomial equations of degree 2 in one variable of type f(x) = ax2 + bx + c where a, b, c, ∈ R and a ≠ 0. This is a general form of a quadratic equation where ‘a’ is referred to as the ‘leading coefficient and ‘c’ is called the absolute term of f (x). Q.3. Check whether the following are quadratic equations: x-2x+1=x-1x+3
Solution: We know that any equation of the form ax2+bx+c=0 is called a quadratic equation, where a,b,c are real numbers and a≠0.
Given equation is x-2x+1=x-1x+3 ⇒x2-x-2=x2+2x-3 ⇒3x-1=0
But, here a=0, b=3 and c=-1 So, the given equation is not a quadratic equation.
Q.4. Check whether the following is a quadratic equation. x-32x+1=xx+5
Solution: We know that any equation of the form ax2+bx+c=0 is called a quadratic equation, where a,b,c are real numbers and a≠0.
Given equation is x-32x+1=xx+5
⇒2×2-6x+x-3=x2+5x ⇒x2-10x-3=0 Here, a=1,b=-10 and c=-3. Thus, the given equation is a quadratic equation as a≠0.

Chapter Description: Quadratic Equation Exercises for Class 10 focuses on equations involving quadratic polynomials, i.e., polynomials of degree two. Quadratic equations are equations of the form y = ax2 + bx + c.
The shape of the graph of a quadratic equation is a parabola. Not all equations ax2 + bx + c = 0 can be easily factored. Thus, we need the formula to solve for x.
For example:
Suppose a charity trust decides to build a prayer hall having a carpet area of 300 square meters with its length one meter more than twice its breadth. What should be the length and breadth of the hall?
Suppose the breadth of the hall is x metres, then its length should be (2x+1) metres
Area of the hall = (2x+1) . x
300 = 2x2 + x
Therefore, 2x2 + x – 300 = 0
So, the breadth of the hall should satisfy the equation 2x2 + x – 300 = 0, which is a quadratic equation.
Quadratic equations have unique properties that fascinate mathematicians, and they can be used as a model to understand more complex polynomials.
