NEET UG Results 2022: NEET Merit List
The merit list will be released shortly after the NEET 2022 result date. Candidates, who meet the cut-off scores set by NTA, will only be allowed to participate in the counselling procedure.
NEET merit list can now be used for admissions into veterinary colleges for undergraduate courses under 15% All India Quota.
NTA will prepare the NEET merit list for 15% All India Quota (AIQ), depending on the cut-off scores. This list will be forwarded to the Directorate General of Health Services (Medical Examination Cell), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, and Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, for online counselling for seat allotment of 15% AIQ seats.
Unlike the NEET cut-off, the merit list will not be declared category-wise; instead, there will be only one centralized merit list that will contain the names of all the qualified candidates.
The counselling authorities of each state will prepare the state-wise merit lists based on the overall rank that the candidate has scored in the state and the category to which he belongs.
The All India Quota (AIQ) merit list will be prepared on the basis of AIR and the national reservation policy.
In the case of two or more candidates securing equal marks in the NEET 2022, the following tie-breaking criteria will be used to determine the ranks:
The candidate who has a better score in NEET Biology will be given the first priority.
Even after applying the first tie-breaker, if the tie remains, then the candidate with a higher score in NEET Chemistry will be placed at the top of the merit list.
The third priority will be given to the candidate who scores higher marks in Physics.
The next priority will be given to candidates with fewer incorrect attempts compared to the correct ones. This will follow the sequence of Biology (Botany and Zoology), Chemistry, and finally followed Physics.
If the tie still persists, the candidate who is older in age will be given a higher preference over the candidate who is younger.
Finally, the application number will be considered in ascending order.
Candidates whose names appear in the final merit list based on NEET 2022 results will be eligible for the seat allotment and admission procedure through NEET counselling. Based on the result, rank, score, vacant seats in the college, and the preferences made by the candidate, the seat allotment will take place. The counselling procedure will be administered by the MCC (Medical Counselling Committee).
NEET counselling 2022 for All India Quota seats, ESIC Quota, and seats in Central and Deemed universities will be conducted by the Director-General of Health Services (DGHS) on behalf of the MCC.
The counselling authorities of the respective states will conduct their own NEET Counselling for the state quota seats.
