NEET Merit List 2020: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will prepare NEET merit list on the basis of marks secured by the candidates in NEET 2020. It will contain the name and roll number of candidates arranged in successive order (based on ranks secured).
NEET Merit List will be released by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) soon after the result is declared. NEET Exam was conducted on September 13, 2020. Candidates can expect the merit list to be declared after 1 to 2 weeks from the date of the result. NEET Counselling is expected to begin from October Last Week 2020.
NEET Merit List 2020
The NEET-UG merit list for All India Quota (AIQ) will be released by MCC and Directorate of Medical Education (DMER) of various states. Based on the merit list, centralized counselling will be held by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
After that, the DGHS will send the NEET Merit List to state and Union Territories counselling authorities. Then again the state-wise NEET merit list will be prepared for state counselling.

The NEET merit list 2020 are of three types:
- All India Merit List: Overall merit list which will include the overall rank status of individuals among all the competing candidates. It is prepared on the basis of All India Rank (AIR).
- AIQ Merit List: It is prepared for candidates who are eligible for 15% seats on the basis of All India Quota Rank.
- State-wise Merit List: After AIQ, remaining seats are given to candidates on the basis of their state rank. The remaining 85% of the seats are filled through the State merit list.
Overall NEET Merit List For All India
All India NEET Merit List 2020 will consist of the name of all the candidates who have appeared for NEET 2020. Through All India NEET merit list, you can find the overall positions of the candidates. The factors like qualifying status and the state from which they belong will not be considered while making this merit list.
NEET Merit List For 15% All India Quota (AIQ)
AIQ NEET-UG 2020 merit list will contain the name of those candidates who have cleared the NEET 2020 exam and do not belong from Jammu & Kashmir. However, those candidates who belong to the state of J&K and have signed the declaration form during the filling up of the NEET 2020 application form, will find their names in the AIQ NEET 2020 merit list.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Government of India will conduct the Counselling for All India Quota Seats for admission to Deemed Universities, Central Universities, Seats of ESIC and AFMC, BHU & AMU. Candidates may visit the website – mcc.nic.in for more information when it is released.
Candidates can apply for All India Quota seats as per the directions of DGHS. NEET Counselling for the same will be stopped once the seats are exhausted. If the AIQ seats are not filled in a particular state, then those seats will be given to the state quota after the concerned authority approves.

NEET Merit List For State Quota Seats
Once the 15% AIQ seats have been filled, the remaining 85% of the seats will be filled based on the All India Rank secured by the candidates in the NEET 2020. All the states will prepare their own merit list. It will prepare NEET MBBS Rank List for seats under state quota, management quota, and NRI quota in order to provide admission to the candidates.
Admission to the private colleges will also be done through state quota NEET Merit List. However, admissions to the colleges in Jammu & Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will be done solely on the basis of state counselling.
The factors that will be considered in determining whether the candidate’s name will be present in this merit list or not depends upon:
- a. From which State or Union Territory the candidate has appeared for NEET UG 2020 exam.
- b. From which State or Union Territory the candidate has completed his/her 12th (according to the details mentioned in the NEET 2020 application form).
- c. Other factors like reservation policies and other norms & regulations will also be considered.
Also, note that a waiting list will also be prepared by all state conducting bodies, which will be equal to 4 times of NEET merit list.

Tie Breaker Rules
If any two candidates are scoring the same marks then the tie-breaker rules will be taken into account in order to break the tie:
- Candidates obtaining higher marks in Biology.
- If the tie is not broken then candidates scoring higher marks in Chemistry.
- Again if the tie is not broken then candidates with lesser number of wrong answers in all the subjects.
- At this point, if the tie is not broken then candidates older in age will be preferred.
