MahaDBT Scholarship: Maharashtra Direct Benefit Transfer (MahaDBT) is a government-run web portal where students who have passed the class 10 board exam (Post Matric students) can apply for scholarships. It is a project funded by the government of India’s Direct Benefit Transfer scheme. The MahaDBT portal’s primary goal is to enable the efficient implementation and disbursement of scholarships to students in Maharashtra.

Through the MahaDBT portal, students can apply for numerous scholarship schemes sponsored by various Maharashtra government departments and organisations. MahaDBT Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria of Maharashtra DBT for various departments are given below:

MahaDBT Social Justice And Special Assistance Department Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

As presented above, 5 different Maharashtra Scholarships are offered under the Maha DBT SJSA Scholarship. SJSA Scholarship Eligibility Criteria for all the schemes are given below:

1. Maha DBT Government of India Post-Matric Scholarship Eligibility:
a. Annual Income of Parents/Guardians should be less than or equal to 2,50,000
b. Category: SC or Navbouddha category
c. A resident of Maharashtra
d. Students can choose only 2 professional courses
e. A resident of Maharashtra but studying out of Maharashtra is also applicable

2. MahaDBT Post Matric Tuition Fee and Examination Fee Scholarship Eligibility:
a. Parents/Guardian Annual Income should be less or equal to 2,50,000
b. Category: SC or Neo Buddhist
c. A resident of Maharashtra
d. Qualification: SSC/Equivalent
e. Institute should be located in Maharashtra
f. Should have been enrolled only for the Professional course

3. MahaDBT Maintenance Allowance for Students Studying in Professional Courses Scholarship Eligibility
a. Student must have enrolled for Professional Course
b. Family income should be less than 2,50,000
c. Student must reside in Hostel
d. The student must be a scholarship holder of Govt of India

4. MahaDBT Rajarshri Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Merit Scholarship Eligibility
a. The student must be studying Class 11 or Class 12
b. Category: SC
c. No Income Limit
d. A student must be a resident of Maharashtra
e. Students must have secured 75% or above in the SSC exam.

5. MahaDBT Post-Matric Scholarship for Persons with Disability Eligibility
a. Students must be physically disabled
b. Must be a resident of Maharashtra and should have enrolled in a recognized university

MahaDBT Department Of Tribal Development Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

There are namely 4 different schemes under the Maharashtra Department of Tribal Development. The common eligibility criteria for these four different schemes are given below:

Common MahaDBT ST Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:

  1. The students’ category must be only ST
  2. The family income should be less than or equal to 2,50,000

MahaDBT Directorate Of Higher Education Scholarship Eligibility

13 different types of scholarships are given to students under the MahaDBT Directorate of Higher Education Department. The DBT Scholarship eligibility criteria for all the 13 schemes are given below:

1. Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Shikshan Shulkh Shishyavrutti Scheme Eligibility Criteria
a. Student’s Domicile: Maharashtra
b. Students who reside in Maharashtra State border or Karnataka State border
c. Family Income shouldn’t exceed more than 8 Lakhs
d. The student should have enrolled for a course which is approved by AICTE
e. Students shouldn’t have enrolled for any other scholarship
f. Students must have a two-year gap in any enrolled course
g. General Candidate student who has enrolled for admission can apply

2. Assistance to Meritorious Students Scholarship – Junior Level Eligibility Criteria
a. Qualification: Class 11 & Class 12 students
b. Students must contain DHE sanctioned letter
c. Maharashtra students studying out of Maharashtra are not eligible

3. Education Concession to the Children of Ex-Servicemen Eligibility Criteria
a. Ex-servicemen’s Son, Daughter, Wife, or Widow are eligible to apply
b. Students must have enrolled in government-aided colleges only
c. Maharashtra students studying out of Maharashtra are not eligible

4. Eklavya Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
a. Student must have enrolled in Law degree courses
b. Candidate should have 60% marks in Arts/Commerce and 70% in Science subjects
c. Family annual income shouldn’t exceed Rs 75,000
d. The scholar should not do a part-time or full-time job
e. Maharashtra students studying out of Maharashtra are not eligible

5. State Government Open Merit Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
a. Students should have enrolled in Science, Arts, Commerce or Law Courses
b. Maharashtra students studying out of Maharashtra are not eligible

6. Scholarship to Meritorious Students Possessing Mathematics/Physics Eligibility Criteria
a. Qualification: 60% in Science exam and 60% in Physics & Maths subjects in Class 12 exam

7. MahaDBT Government Vidyaniketan Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
a. Qualification: 60% in Class 10 board exams
b. Candidates should have enrolled and qualified under State Government Vidyanikethan only

8. MahaDBT State Government Daxshina Adhichatra Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
a. The student should be a graduate student from a non-agriculture college
b. The student should be residents of Maharashtra

9. MahaDBT Government Research Adichatra Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
a. Qualification: PG Degree holder with at least 60% of marks

10. MahaDBT Education Concession to the Children Freedom Fighter Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

11. MahaDBT Jawaharlal Nehru University Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
a. Maharashtra students who have studied at JNU

12. MahaDBT Assistance to Meritorious Students Scholarship – Senior Level Eligibility Criteria
a. Qualification: Class 11 and Class 12 Students
b. Maharashtra students studying out of Maharashtra are not eligible

13. MahaDBT Dr Punjabrao Deshmukh Vasatigruh Nirvah Bhatta Yojna (DHE) Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
a. Annual income should not exceed more than 8 Lakhs
b. Students should attempt all the Annual or Semester exams
c. Student should not avail any other Nirvah Bhatta benefits

MahaDBT Directorate Of Technical Education (DTE) Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

There are 2 different schemes under the MahaDBT Directorate of Technical Education department viz., – Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Shikshan Shulkh Shishyavrutti Yojna and Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Vastigruh Nirvah Bhatta Yojna (DTE). The eligibility criteria for both the schemes are common as listed below:

  1. Nationality: Indian
  2. Domicile: Maharashtra State
  3. Annual Income: Shouldn’t exceed more than 8 Lakhs
  4. Course Attendance: More than or equal to 50%
  5. The student should not have more than 2 years gap in the course
  6. Deemed university students are not eligible
  7. The applicants should have enrolled for college admission through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP)
  8. The student should have enrolled for a Technical or Professional course and must possess a “Bonafide Student of Institute” certificate

MahaDBT VJNT, OBC & SBC Welfare Department Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

There are 8 different schemes of scholarships that are awarded to students under the VJNT, OBC, and SBC Welfare Department. The main aim of this department is to provide Post matric scholarships to VJNT, OBC, and SBC category students. The eligibility criteria for each scholarship vary from one to another.

1. MahaDBT Post Matric Scholarship for VJNT Students Eligibility Criteria:
a. Category: VJNT, OBC, and SBC Category students only
b. Students must have enrolled in a course that is approved by Maharashtra state.
c. Family annual income should not exceed more than 1 Lakh
d. The student should be admitted through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP)
e. The student should maintain at least 75% attendance in the current academic year

2. Tuition Fees and Examination Fees to VJNT Students Eligibility Criteria:
a. Category: VJNT Category students only
b. Student must be a resident of Maharashtra
c. Family annual income should not exceed more than 8 Lakh
d. Students must have enrolled in Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, and Fisheries or Health Science related courses.
e. Students must have enrolled in aided or unaided government colleges in technical education.

3. Maintenance Allowance to VJNT and SBC Students Studying in Professional Courses and Living in Hostel Attached to Professional Colleges Eligibility Criteria:
a. Category: VJNT and SBC Category students only
b. Student must have enrolled in professional courses such as Engineering, Medical, Veterinary, Architecture, etc
c. Family annual income should not exceed more than 1 Lakh
d. The student should get admission to a professional college only. Students who have been admitted to government colleges are not eligible for this scholarship.

4. Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Merit Scholarship for Students Studying in 11th & 12th Standard of VJNT & SBC Category Eligibility Criteria:
a. Category: Vimukta Jatis, Nomadic Tribes, and Special Backward Classes
b. Student must be studying in Class 11 or Class 12 Junior College
c. Students shouldn’t have any educational gap

5. MahaDBT Post Matric Scholarship to OBC Students Eligibility Criteria:
a. Category: OBC category students only
b. Students must have enrolled in a course that is approved by the Maharashtra state government.
c. The student should be admitted through the Centralised Admission Process (CAP)
d. The student should maintain at least 75% attendance in the current academic year

6. MahaDBT Post Matric Scholarship to SBC Students Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:
a. Category: SBC Category students only
b. Students must have enrolled in a course that is approved by the government.
c. Family annual income should not exceed more than 1 Lakh

7. MahaDBT Tuition Fees and Examination Fees to OBC Students Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:
a. Category: OBC Category students only
b. Student must be a resident of Maharashtra

MahaDBT School Education And Sports Department Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

The School Education and Sports Department, also known as SESD, has two different schemes that offer scholarships for Junior College students. The Maharashtra Scholarship eligibility criteria for each scheme vary and candidates will have to fulfil the following eligibility criteria to avail of the MahaDBT SESD Scholarship.

1. MahaDBT Open Merit Scholarships in Junior College Eligibility Criteria
a. Student must have enrolled for Class 11 or Class 12
b. Student must have obtained at least 60% in SSC exams

2. MahaDBT Merit Scholarship for Economically Backward Class Students Eligibility Criteria
a. Student must have obtained at least 50% in SSC exams
b. Students must have cleared the board exam in one attempt

MahaDBT Directorate Of Medical Education and Research (DMER) Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

DMER or Directorate of Medical Education and Research Department has two different schemes through which students can avail of the scholarship. DMER Department is specially designed for the students who wish to avail the Maharashtra Scholarship for medical courses. The DMER Scholarship Eligibility Criteria is given below:

1. MahaDBT Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Fee Reimbursement Scheme Eligibility Criteria
a. Student should have enrolled for Medical Course
b. Family annual income should not exceed more than 8 Lakhs

2. MahaDBT Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Hostel Maintenance Allowance Eligibility Criteria
a. Family annual income should not exceed more than 8 Lakhs
b. Applicant’s parents or guardians should be registered labours
c. Students should have enrolled for Medical Course
d. Students who took hostel admission in Mumbai, Pune, Aurangabad, and Nagpur are also eligible for this scholarship

MahaDBT Minority Development Department Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Minority Development Department Scholarship is specially designed for the Minority students who have enrolled in Arts, Commerce, Science, Law, Medical, and other courses in Maharashtra state. The Minority Development Department Scholarship eligibility criteria for different schemes are given below:

1. MahaDBT State Minority Scholarship Part II (DHE) Eligibility Criteria
a. Qualification: UG or PG Graduate from Arts/Commerce/Science/Law/Education courses
b. Domicile: Maharashtra
c. Annual Income: Should not exceed 8 Lakhs
d. Maharashtra students studying out of Maharashtra are not eligible

2. MahaDBT Scholarship for Students of Minority Communities Pursuing Higher and Professional Courses (DTE) Eligibility Criteria
a. Nationality: Indian
b. Domicile: Maharashtra State
c. Annual Income: Shouldn’t exceed more than 8 Lakhs
d. Course Attendance: More than or equal to 50%
e. The applicants should have enrolled for college admission through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP)

3. MahaDBT Scholarship for Students of Minority Communities Pursuing Higher and Professional Courses (DMER) Eligibility Criteria
a. Student should have enrolled for any Medical Course in the college which is affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Science, Nashik
b. Annual Income: Shouldn’t exceed more than 8 Lakhs

How to Apply for the Scholarship on MahaDBT Portal?

Before filling out the Maharashtra Scholarship Online Form, candidates will have to check their eligibility criteria which vary based on the department and the scholarship offered. The steps to fill up the Maharashtra Scholarship Form 2021-22 are listed below:

MahaDBT Registration Online

Follow the steps below to register for the Maharashtra DBT Online Registration 2021 in online mode:

  • 1st Step: Visit the official Maharashtra MahaDBT Website – mahadbtmahait.gov.in.
  • 2nd Step: On the homepage, click on “Post Matric Scholarship” from the right side of the screen.

  • 3rd Step: Here click on the “New Applicant Registration“.
  • 4th Step: A new page will open. Enter Applicant Name, User Name, Password, Email ID, and Mobile.
  • 5th Step: Click on the “Get OTP for Email ID & Mobile Number Verification“.
  • 6th Step: You will receive the OTP to your Email ID and Mobile Number. Now enter the OTP number which you have received in the “Enter OTP for Email ID & Mobile Number” box.
  • 7th Step: Now click on the “Register” button.
  • 8th Step: You will receive the login credentials to your mobile number and email ID. Make note of your Login Credentials.

  • 1st Step: Now click on the “Applicant Login” link.
  • 2nd Step: Enter your “User Name“.
  • 3rd Step: Enter “Password“.
  • 4th Step: Resolve the “Captcha“.
  • 5th Step: Click on the “Login Here” button.

MahaDBT Profile Creation

  • 1st Step: Fill up the personal details.
  • 2nd Step: Enter your Address information.
  • 3rd Step: Enter other information such as Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, and their occupation.
  • 4th Step: Enter your current course name in the required fields.
  • 5th Step: Enter your Past Qualification Name, Stream, University, etc.,
  • 6th Step: Click on the “Hostel Details” and select if you are Hosteler or Day Scholar.
  • 7th Step: Click on the “Save” button.

MahaDBT Username Reset

Candidates who have forgotten their MahaDBT login user ID can reset their username. The procedures to reset the username are outlined below.

  • 1st Step: First, go to the official website. Select the applicant login option from the drop-down menu.
  • 2nd Step: On the login screen, select ‘Forgot Username’ from the drop-down menu.
  • 3rd Step: Fill in your personal information, such as your name, phone number, and date of birth.
  • 4th Step: Select ‘Get Username’ from the drop-down menu. A pop-up window will show on the screen telling you that the username has been successfully delivered to your registered mobile phone number.
  • 5th Step: An SMS will be sent to your registered cellphone number stating that your username has been sent.

MahaDBT Username Password

Students who have forgotten their passwords can reset them using the procedures outlined below.

  • 1st Step: First, go to the official website. Select the applicant login option from the drop-down menu.
  • 2nd Step: On the login screen, click the ‘Forget the Password’ link.
  • 3rd Step: Finally, type in your login.
  • 4th Step: A pop-up will display stating that your OTP was successfully sent to your registered cellphone number. On the pop-up window, click the Ok button.
  • 5th Step: In the area below the username, type the OTP. A new page will appear after that. To change your password, use the ‘change password option’.
  • 6th Step: Type in both your old and new passwords, then confirm the new password.
  • 7th Step: Finally, select Change Password from the drop-down menu. Your password will be successfully reset after that.

MahaDBT Apply Online Scheme

  • 1st Step: Now you will see a list of suggested schemes. Go through the list of eligible and suggested schemes.
  • 2nd Step: Now choose the scheme under which you would like to avail of the MahaDBT Scholarship.
  • 3rd Step: Click on the “Apply for Scheme” button. You will be successfully directed to a new page.
  • 4th Step: Upload all the necessary documents.
  • 5th Step: Finally, click on the “Submit” application. The officials will soon update the MahaDBT Status.

Check MahaDBT Scholarship Status 2022

Candidates can check MahaDBT status by themselves by logging in to the official Maharashtra Scholarship Portal. Follow the steps below to check the current status of Maharashtra DBT.

  1. Visit the official website of MahaDBT: mahadbtmahait.gov.in
  2. Click on Application Tracking and enter your MahaDBT Application ID.
  3. Your status will be visible on your screen.

How to Check MahaDBT Redeem Status?

To check the MahaDBT redeem status, applicants should log in to the MahaDBT portal and click on “My Applied Scheme”. Click on the “Redeem” button to check your MahaDBT redeem status.

  • Course duration between 4 to 5 years: Rs. 7,000 per annum
  • Course duration between 2 to 3 years: Rs. 5,000

The students who are not admitted to government hostels :

  • Course duration between 4 to 5 years: Rs. 10,000 per annum
  • Course duration between 2 to 3 years: Rs. 7,000 per annum

Rajarshri Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Merit Scholarship

  • Rs. 300 per month for 10 months for two years period.

Post-Matric Scholarship for Persons with Disability

The maintenance allowance is provided per month and divided into Group A, Group B, Group C, Group D, Group E

    1. The students will receive an escort allowance of Rs. 160 per month and a special Pay of Rs. 160 per month.

    2. The mentally retired will receive extra coaching and be paid Rs. 240 per month along with the following:

    Study tours: Rs. 1,600 per annum
    Thesis typing/printing: Rs. 1,600 per annum
    Book grant: Rs. 1,200 per annum

Tuition Fee and Exam Fee for Tribal Students

Rajarshi Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Shikshan Shulkh Shishyavrutti Scheme

  • 100% tuition fee waived for Government & Non-government aided courses for students up to Rs. 2.5 Lakh family annual income.
  • Students with a family annual income up to 8 Lakh will receive 50% Government and Non-government aided tuition fees.
  • 50% and 100% of the examination fee will be paid for professional and non-professional courses.

Assistance to Meritorious Students Scholarship – Junior Level

  • The AMS junior-level scholarship amount is up to Rs. 3,000.
  • The AMS senior-level scholarship amount is up to Rs. 7,000.
