Eligibility Criteria For NDA 2022

Candidates must check the eligibility criteria before applying for the exam. The UPSC NDA Recruitment eligibility criteria are listed below:

Nationality: Candidates must be a citizen of India or any of the following categories:

  • A Subject of Nepal, or
  • A Person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India 

Provided that these candidates, except Indian citizens, produce a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

Age Limit: Only unmarried male candidates born not earlier than July 02, 2002, and not later than July 01, 2005, are eligible.

Educational Qualification: The educational qualification specified by the officials are listed below:

  • For Army Wing of National Defence Academy: The candidates should have passed the 10+2 board exams from a recognized board.
  • For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and For Naval Academy: The candidate should have cleared Class 12 board examination in 10+2 pattern or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths as subjects from a recognized board.

UPSC NDA Selection Process

The NDA selection process involves two stages:

  • Stage I: Written Test
  • Stage II: SSB Interview

Candidates have to qualify in both stages to get selected for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force Wings of the National Defence Academy and Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC). Furthermore, candidates who qualify in the written test are only eligible to appear for the interview.

The examination will be conducted for two papers:

  1. Paper 1 is for Mathematics and the time duration for NDA Maths exam is 2 hours 30 minutes.
  2. Paper 2 is for General Ability Test (GAT) and will consist of two sections – English and General Knowledge. The total time duration of the exam is 2 hours 30 minutes.

NDA Medical Test Details

Candidates who qualify in the SSB Interview will have to reach the Medical Board as per the suggestions of the officials to get themselves evaluated medically. It takes 4 to 5 days of time for the concerned Military Hospital to complete the medical checkup of the candidates. Those who are medically fit will be appointed according to the vacancies and preferences. Candidates who have been declared unfit may seek the advice of the President Special Medical Board for review/appeal.

NDA Admit Card 2022

UPSC releases the NDA admit card online on the official website. Candidates who are appearing for the NDA examination can visit the official website and log in with their credentials to download NDA I and II admit cards.
