NEET 2024 Study Plan: NEET Preparation Tips

Some of the most crucial tips are given below,

Know the Syllabus and Exam Pattern

The first step of NEET study plan 2024 is to be well aware of the exam pattern and the NEET syllabus.  You will be asked questions from four sections: Chemistry, Physics, Botany and Zoology. The syllabus will guide you on the topics that you have to study in each subject. The exam pattern will acquaint you with aspects such as marks allotted per question, topic-wise weightage, duration and question difficulty.

The weightage per topic will help you to gauge the important topics per subject, which you cannot give amiss at any cost. Note that the NEET syllabus comprises subject-wise topics that you would have studied for your board exams as a part of your Classes 11 and 12 NCERT syllabi. Hence, if you start your preparations right from Class 11, you will not only be prepared for both your board exams and NEET but also have bonus time to prepare for NEET.

Know Your Books

The syllabus is vast, and you will not have sufficient time to read a lot of books. You can select one or two books for each subject. Before you get your books, make sure you are aware of the best books for each subject and also see your comfort level with the language and mode of delivery of lessons. NEET study material PDF download is available at Embibe.

Before you study any other book, you should be thorough with the NCERT books for all the lessons. NCERT books provide the groundwork to build your concepts. You can build upon these concepts with the reference books later.

Prepare a NEET Study Time-Table

After you have become well-versed with the syllabus, you will have better clarity of the overview, such as – the number of chapters you have to study from each section, which chapter is lengthier than another, which chapter has more weightage, which chapter has more important topics from which questions are asked every year and so on.

When you prepare the NEET study timetable for 2024, consider the following points:

  • You will be asked questions from two sections of Biology, namely Zoology and Botany, while it is just one each from Physics and Chemistry. With Biology carrying more marks, your NEET study plan 2024 should have half or more than half of the study time dedicated to Biology.
  • Wake up early in the morning to study. Early morning studies are found to be effective. If you are not an early riser, make sure that you start studying latest by 9 a.m.
  • Study Physics or Chemistry in the morning, whichever appears harder to you. Start with studying some concepts of the subject and then proceed towards solving questions on the same concept.
  • Know that hard work is not enough; your approach should be smart as well. Prioritise the chapters with a higher weightage and more important topics from which questions are commonly asked. The earlier you study these chapters, the more time you get to read, understand and practice questions from these chapters. Leave the fewer weightage chapters for later.
  • In the second part of your day, make time for Biology. Study some concepts in the beginning. Next, solve the previous year’s questions on that topic. Once you have completed solving the previous year’s questions, move on to solving sample papers and mock test paper series. You can get previous year’s questions and NEET mock tests for at Embibe. Having a practice of solving questions regularly is very important. The more you practice, the more your chances of solving the questions correctly in the exam. More practice questions also increase your predictability of questions in the exams. Eventually, solve the questions using a timer. Solving questions with a timer will improve your speed and accuracy rate and help you to score better in the NEET exams.
  • Based on the time that you have at hand for preparation, you can either divide your study slots into three parts in which you keep Physics, Biology and Chemistry for study every day, or you can divide your timetable into two parts where you study Biology daily and Physics and Chemistry on an alternating basis or three days at a stretch each. However, you choose, make sure that Biology occupies the major part of your NEET study timetable in 2023.
  • If you have studied for two hours at a stretch, take a 20-minute break to relax before you renew. You can also design your timetable keeping the ratio of hard and easy topics at 3:1 for each day.

Make Notes

Keep a highlighter and pencil with you when you study. Highlight and make notes as you go. This will be very helpful before the exams. When you do not have sufficient time to read through the whole chapter, these notes will help you to quickly revise and skim through the important parts of the lessons.

  • After studying a new topic, write down the important points or your understanding of the concept in a notebook. Explaining a concept to a friend or writing it down in a notebook will strengthen your understanding of the concept. Revise this the next day before you start a new topic.
  • Make an exercise book for each subject and write down the formulae for each chapter. Revise these formulae at least once a week.
  • You can also collate all the questions for a topic from different books in one place. When you study a topic or revise it, having all the questions from a topic altogether to study will increase your strength on the topic.

Resolve Your Doubts

While studying your lessons, you will be sure to come across complex concepts in each subject. Make a note of all your doubts, and positively have your doubts resolved by your teachers, seniors and friends. You can also clear your queries at the doubt-solving sessions with our teachers at Embibe. This is an extremely required step towards your preparation. Hesitating and holding back your queries will keep you away from solving questions related to those topics correctly.

Lakhs of aspirants appear for NEET exams every year, but only a few hundred can crack the exams successfully. Preparing for these exams will therefore require a concrete plan. Without a proper strategy and plan in place, it is nearly impossible to crack NEET. These preparation tips for NEET will help you to design your study plan and score well in the exams.
