UGC NET 2022 Postponed: Phase 2 Exam Date, Admit Card

UGC NET 2022: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has postponed the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) 2022 Phase 2 exam. The UGC NET Phase 2 exam 2022 will now be conducted from September 20 to 30, 2022, for the merged cycles of December 2021 and June 2022. Moreover, candidates can check the city intimation and download the UGC NET 2022 admit card from September 16, 2022.

NTA NET Exam 2022

NTA UGC NET is a national-level exam conducted to determine candidates’ eligibility for only Assistant Professor or both Junior Research Fellowship or JRF and Assistant Professor posts in Indian universities and colleges.

Candidates must have a Master’s degree with a minimum aggregate of 55% to appear for the exam. On the other hand, candidates from SC, ST, or OBC categories must have 50% marks to sit for the UGC NET exam 2022. The official notification will include eligibility criteria, exam centres, syllabus, and more.

Steps to Learn UGC NET Important Topics on Embibe

To learn and revise the important topics with UGC NET free study materials on Embibe, candidates must follow the steps below:

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria

The National Testing Agency determines the eligibility criteria for UGC NET along with the notification. Aspirants have to meet NTA NET eligibility criteria to be considered eligible for the entrance exam and avoid any cancellation of their candidature. The NTA NET eligibility criteria include requirements based on age and educational qualification. 

UGC NET Age Limit for Assistant Professor

 There is no upper age limit in applying for UGC-NET for the Assistant Professor.

UGC NET Age Limit for Junior Research Fellowship

  • Candidates applying for Junior Research Fellowship must cross the upper age limit of 31 years. (This age limit is applicable only for the current examination).
  • Also, those belonging to OBC, SC, and ST categories are provided upper age relaxation to apply for the entrance exam. Check the table to know the age relaxation given to these candidates.

UGC NET 2022 Educational Qualification

  • Candidates with a minimum of 55% marks in post-graduation in Humanities and Social Science (including languages), Science, Electronic Science, Computer Science and Applications, etc., from UGC recognised university/institutions or equivalent, are eligible to apply for NTA NET. 
  • Also, OBC/SC/ST/PWD/Transgender category students must secure at least 50% marks in their pg course to be eligible for NTA NET.

As per the UGC NET exam pattern, the test will consist of Paper I and II. Both the papers will have multiple-choice questions. Each correct answer will give two marks, and there will be no negative marking. The total duration of the exam will be three hours.

UGC NET Application Form 2022

NTA releases the UGC NET application form as per the specific schedule. Candidates have to fill in the form online by visiting the official website. While filling up the form, candidates must remember that the details should match their 10th mark sheet.

Candidates must follow the step-wise procedure available below to quickly fill up the UGC NTA NET online application form 2022 without any confusion:

Stage I: Register online using the email id and mobile number and note down the generated application number.
Stage II: Fill in all the mandatory fields mentioned on the UGC NTA NET Application Form and click on the “Submit” button.
Stage III: Upload the Photograph and Signature. The documents must be as per the prescribed format and size.
Stage IV: Now, please make the Payment of Fees and check the NTA NET application form fee status.

Note that the application form will be considered only after the successful payment of the Application Fee. Candidates are advised to preserve the hard copy of the filled application form.

UGC NET Application Fee

The application fees for the NTA NET exam were submitted online. Payments were made through Debit/ Credit/ Net banking/ UPI/ Wallet. On successful payment, a reference number was generated for the candidates. The acknowledgement is saved for future reference. The amount of the exam fee is as below:

UGC NET 2022 Application Form Correction

Candidates can make adjustments to their previously filed UGC NET application form between May 31 and June 1, 2022, by following the methods outlined below:

1st Step: Visit the official website- ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
2nd Step: Click the link titled ‘Correction Window of Online Application Form…’.
3rd Step: Enter the application number, password, and security pin to log in.
4th Step: Select the ‘Correction in application form’ option.
5th Step: After reading the instructions, click the agreement box.
6th Step: Make the necessary changes.
7th Step: Pay any additional charges.
8th Step: Save and submit the form.

UGC NET Syllabus

The syllabus for Paper I will be based on the teaching and reasoning ability, general awareness, comprehension, and divergent thinking of the candidates.

Paper-II will be subject-based, and candidates can select one subject from a list of 101 subjects. Some of the subjects are Economics, English, Commerce, Psychology, Management, Malayalam, German, Music, etc.

UGC NET Admit Card 2022

National Testing Agency NTA will release the UGC NET admit card on September 16, 2022, for every successfully registered candidate on its official website. The candidates must carry their admit cards on the day of the exam. Otherwise, they will not be allowed to enter the exam hall.

Discrepancies Found in UGC NET Admit Card

If there are any issues in the UGC NET Admit Card, candidates must reach out to the authorities and have it fixed before the exam date. If an admit card has printing or other issues, it’s not an ideal admit card, and it will not be allowed in the exam hall. While addressing the discrepancies or anything missing from the hall ticket, candidates should also do it during working hours.

UGC NTA NET Exam Centre

The examination will be held in 541 cities throughout the country, and candidates must choose any 4 cities according to their preferences. Officials will make an effort to allot the exam centre as per the candidate’s preference. However, due to administrative reasons, a different city might be allocated.

NTA NET 2022 Answer Key

Once the NTA National Eligibility Test is completed, the board will publish the UGC NET Answer key. Candidates will be able to download the Answer key from the official website. The Answer key will be released for both Paper – I and II in various sets containing all the correct answers to the questions asked in the exam paper.

Candidates will also get the facility to challenge the answer key if they are not satisfied with the answers given. After considering the challenges, the board will release a final answer key. The answer keys are available on the official site. Candidates have to submit their login credentials after visiting the site to check the answer keys and download the PDF.

UGC NET Result

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will announce the UGC NET result online on the official website. The authority will prepare it based on the final answer key. To check the result, candidates will have to login into the website using their Registration Number and Password or date of birth. The NTA UGC NET result includes the roll number, marks scored and candidate’s qualifying status. Along with the UGC NET result, NTA will also release the cut-off marks for all the subjects.

Candidates who clear the NTA NET exam will be awarded the NET eligibility certificate. Candidates who will crack JRF will receive the JRF certificate, which will be valid for three years from the issue date. The Assistant professor lectureship certificate’s validity is for a lifetime.

NTA NET Passing Criteria

Candidates can check the details of passing criteria below:

  • The number of candidates to be shortlisted as per the result will be equal to 6% of the candidates who will take the test for both papers – Paper-I and Paper-II.
  • The total slots will be allocated to different categories as per the reservation policy of the Government of India.
  • To qualify for UGC NET ‘JRF and Eligibility for Assistant Professor’ and for ‘Assistant Professor’, a candidate must secure at least 40% aggregate marks in both the papers taken together for the General category and 35% aggregate marks for SC, ST, OBC (belonging to Non-Creamy Layer, PwD and Transgender).

What After UGC NET Result?

After the UGC NET result declaration, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will issue an e-certificate and JRF award letters after a month. The exam conducting authorities will enable the link to download the NTA NET 2022 certificate on the official website.

After getting the certificate, qualified candidates can apply for the post of Assistant Professor in Indian universities and colleges. Candidates who will clear the NTA NET for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) can pursue research in the chosen subject.

Validity of UGC NET Certificate

There are two certifications for the candidates who qualify NTA NET exam: 

  1. Certificate for Lectureship (LS)
  2. Certificate for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).

The validity of both these certificates is different.

  1. For JRF: UGC NET Certificate for JRF remains valid for three years from the date of declaration of the result.
  2. For LS: While there is no such validation limit for the post of Assistant Professor (Lectureship). It will be valid for a lifetime.
