Preparation Strategy For Scoring 270+ In JEE Mains

Preparation Strategy for Scoring 270 in JEE Main Exam: Strategy is an important part of the preparation process for an exam. The syllabus is vast and without a direction in place, a candidate can seem to be lost in the ocean. NTA conducts the JEE Main and JEE Advanced examinations for engineering aspirants all over India.

To provide candidates the guidance that they seek for, we have provided general tips to prepare for the exam in this article. In addition, candidates can also refer to the article to know how which part of each subject should they focus more to score good marks in the exam.

Strategy To Prepare Each Subject

One advantage that candidates have in preparing for JEE Main and JEE Advanced is that the syllabus of these exams have a lot in common with the syllabus that they have studied for Class 11 and 12. However, since the exams mentioned are highly competitive in nature, they still need a strategy to approach these exams. Therefore, we have provided the strategy to prepare for Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, in the section below:

Physics

As a part of their preparation for Physics, candidates should revise all the concepts of NCERT and NCERT Exemplar questions. However, candidates should note that NCERT books alone are not enough to prepare for JEE Main exams. Along with studying from the NCERT books, candidates should practice questions books considered best for IIT JEE preparation, such as the ones by HC Verma and DC Pandey. Practice constitutes an important part of Physics preparation. Practising questions from DC Pandey is enough for Mechanics. Thermodynamics and Nuclear Physics are the easiest and most scoring chapters. So candidates should prioritise on preparing these two chapters. Candidates should remember that the question paper is designed providing 60% weightage to the Physics syllabus of Class 12 and 40% weightage to the Physics syllabus of Class 11. They should accordingly prioritize the topics for preparation.

Chemistry

Candidates should study the NCERT books thoroughly to prepare for Chemistry. If candidates are thorough with their preparation of NCERT Chemistry, they will easily be able to get a score of 90 to 100 marks in the JEE Main examination. Many a time, examiners have asked questions directly from the NCERT textbooks, especially in Inorganic Chemistry. Candidates should practice the numerical questions for Physical Chemistry. Understanding the working principles of the Organic Chemistry concepts is the way to scoring good marks in Organic Chemistry.

Maths

Maths is one of the most important and scoring subjects. Candidates should start their preparation for the JEE Main exam with practising questions from NCERT and NCERT Exemplar. They should then move on to practising questions from reference books and other study materials. Candidates must not only practice Mathematics questions regularly, but also they must practice questions of higher difficulty levels as much as they can. The chapter on Calculus has a high weightage. So, they should dedicate a lot of time and attention to solving Calculus questions.

Tips To Keep In Mind While Preparing the TimeTable

Having a timetable is an important part of the exam preparation process. In this section, we have provided some preparation tips that will be useful for candidates when they devise the exam timetables for their exams:

  • There are specific times of the day when we like to study, and at other times we do not. Along the same line, there are subjects which we prefer to study at a certain time of the day. Identify these slots. Aspirants should look at covering most of their syllabus at a time when they feel the most energized to study.

If they tend to be more productive during the early hours of the morning or evening, they should keep these slots for covering a new topic. After studying for hours, candidates might want to abide by a lighter schedule after lunch. They can keep that slot to revise the new topics they have studied or to solve mock test papers and previous year question papers. On the flip side, if they find themselves more productive at night, they can focus on the more important topics of study during the night.

  • Candidates should give themselves small challenges. For example, a challenge can be following the same study schedule for a month. When they fulfil this target or other such small but significant targets, they can reward themselves for it. This will help to enforce a productive habit in them which can lead them to qualify for the JEE Advanced exam with good grades. In case they are not able to achieve a goal, they should identify what went wrong with the plan and the execution of the same. They should revise their existing plan and action as per this analysis.
  • Candidates should prepare a timetable that allows them room for flexibility. Not all days are similar. Some days might require one to stretch oneself on a particular topic. Candidates should prepare their timetable in a manner, such that they are able to provide more importance to a topic that requires its due attention on a particular day.
  • Candidates should be consistent with their study schedules. Regular practice and studying daily are some of the important skills required to clear the exam. They should focus more on a topic in which they are weak.
  • If a study a topic that requires a candidate to dedicate long hours, or if there are topics which have long been taught in class but they have not found the time to revise, candidates should look towards allotting their weekends and holidays to prepare for the same.
