Tips to Crack NEET in First Attempt

Here are some general tips to crack NEET in the first attempt.

Know Your Syllabus Well: NEET has a vast syllabus with numerous topics and subtopics. In fact, there are almost 100 chapters to be covered. Before starting preparation, candidates must be completely aware of the NEET 2023 syllabus. Also, they can compare the NEET Syllabus with their board syllabus to know the differences and similarities.

Aspirants can start collecting study materials for topics not included in the syllabus. The NCERT textbooks for Class 11 and Class 12 are the go-to guides for NETT 2023 preparation. Take printouts of the NEET syllabus and keep them handy for reference.

Get Familiar with the NEET Exam Pattern: Aspirants must get familiar with the NEET 2023 exam pattern. Going through the previous question papers is helpful in this aspect. The NEET question paper comprises questions from Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, respectively. NEET is an objective question-based test with a negative marking scheme.

The subject-wise break-up of the NEET Exam pattern is given in the table below:

SubjectNo. of QuestionsMarks
Total 180720

Prepare a Strategy: Candidates must prepare a winning strategy based on the NEET syllabus and exam pattern. The strategy must involve an effective schedule. They have to prepare a well-planned schedule and diligently stick to it. Ensure that the schedule is personalised and is based on their convenience. Set realistic goals to boost their confidence and have fulfilling learning sessions.

Follow the timetable rigorously with adequate breaks in between. This is the most effective way to cover the NEET 2023 syllabus successfully.

Manage Your Time Effectively: Time is a crucial aspect of the NEET exam. In fact, many candidates have stated that they were unable to answer all the questions within the 3-hour duration. Therefore, they must be able to solve a question within a minute to score high marks.

However, aspirants can’t randomly choose answers as there is a negative marking scheme. They have to increase speed and accuracy with constant practice. Taking mock tests is helpful in this aspect. They can only score high marks if they manage their 3 hours effectively.

Solve NEET Previous Year Papers: Aspirants must solve previous year NEET question papers as part of their preparation.  It helps comprehend the question pattern, chapter-wise weightage, and the complexity of the questions from different sections. By solving these papers, candidates can also improve their analytical skills, speed and accuracy.

Take Personalised Notes: We recommend taking notes for each session while working their way through the entire syllabus. These notes are beneficial during revisions. Also, experts state that aspirants tend to remember points better from their notes than from textbooks. Hence, make as many notes as possible to remember them better during revisions. Ensure the notes are concise and the NCERT terminology is correct.

Clear All Your Doubts: Candidates might get a lot of doubts during preparation. Reach out to the teachers and discuss with friends to clarify their doubts. Candidates can solve a question within a minute only when they understand it well. Keep track of all their doubts and reach out to teachers and experts for clarification. Discuss with friends and work it out together.

Take Little Breaks: Candidates cannot have the same level of focus for an extended period of time. We recommend taking little breaks to relax and refresh. Take a stroll, play video games, chat with your friends or have a snack. They will get to the syllabus very refreshed. Remember that they do not want to be distracted from their studies while preparing for NEET. So they should avoid social media during breaks.

Prioritise Your Health: We have observed that many students ignore their health entirely or completely during exam time. All those late-night learning sessions and improper diet take a toll on one’s health. Allot time for physical activities and a healthy diet to stay fit throughout the exam season. Take proper care of the sleep cycle. You do not want to get sick during crucial moments.

Be Wise and Revise: The more revision, the more candidates can recollect it during exams. They have to allot regular revision time on their schedule. Discuss with friends and reach out to experts to solve the doubts immediately. As aspirants engage a lot with their syllabus, they will become familiar with it and able to work with it.
