NEET UG Eligibility Criteria 2022

The NTA releases the NEET eligibility criteria specifying age limit, educational requirements, nationality, and relaxation for various categories.

Age Limit

A candidate must be at least 17 years of age at the time of admission or will complete that age on or before December 31, 2022, of his/her admission to the first year of the undergraduate medical courses.

Earlier, the upper age limit for NEET-UG was 25 years at the time of admission, with a relaxation of 5 years for candidates belonging to the SC/ST/OBC-NCL category and PwD candidates. The NTA has removed the upper age limit criteria.

Code:1Candidates appearing for the Class 12 examination can appear for the NEET 2022 examination. However, all the documents must be furnished by the candidates during the time of admission after the results are announced.
Code:2Candidates belonging to ISCE having completed 12 years under Higher/Secondary examination can opt for this code. The last two years of study must include English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, Mathematics, or any type of other elective subjects prescribed by the NCERT.

Those who have passed 10+2 in 2019 or before and have not pursued any other course after completing Class 12th have to choose this code.
The qualifying examination code for NEET 2022 droppers also remains the same. If a candidate has passed the CBSE/ICSE qualifying exam in 2020, he/she can apply for NEET 2022 with this code.
Code:3Candidates can select this code if they have passed their pre-boards in the Science stream from any recognised Indian Board/University or any type of other body having the subject combination of Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as the compulsory subjects. This must however include a practical test for the mentioned subjects.
Code:4Candidates who have completed as well as passed the pre-medical/pre-professional exam after qualifying in HSC can choose this code. The qualifying examination must also include science practical tests.
Code:5Candidates who are completing three years of bachelor’s degree with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as the main subjects and have qualified for the first year with practical tests are eligible to apply for this code. They are also required to pass 10+2 in order to apply via this code.
Code:6Those with a B.Sc degree in at least two subjects – Chemistry, Physics, Biology (Botany/Zoology), and Biotechnology- can choose this code. Along with that, the candidates are also required to pass Class 12th with PCB and English.
Code:7Candidates who have passed any examination equivalent to the intermediate examination of any Indian University with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English must select this code. The last two qualifying years should include Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and practical tests.

NEET UG Notification 2022: Application Form

The NEET 2022 application form was released on April 06, 2022. Candidates were able to fill out their application forms until May 20, 2022. The online mode was the only preferred way to fill out the application form.
