NEW DELHI, JULY 1 | The impending coronavirus situation has extended the lockdown in several Indian states. This has raised concerns over conducting a number of national level examinations including JEE and NEET 2020. However, as of now, JEE Main 2020 is scheduled to be held on July 18 to July 23, in two shifts.
A few states including Maharashtra, Nagaland, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal have extended the lockdown until July 31, as the COVID19 cases are on increase. The state-wise lockdown implies that the National Testing Agency (NTA) should reconsider postponement of JEE Main and NEET 2020 selection tests.
Uncertainty over JEE Mains and NEET 2020 continues
A few parents have written to NTA to postpone the exams in the wake of the all-encompassing lockdown. The Human Resources Development Ministry (MHRD) is yet to declare the last approach to these coveted entrance examinations for engineering and medical programmes.
The center, however, has given a go to area-wise Unlock 2. Notwithstanding, the non-consistency in the zones of Unlock 2 will make it hard for candidates to show up at the exam centres. For instance, JEE Main and NEET aspirants from Mumbai won’t have the option to show up as the wellbeing hazard is higher in the territory.
State-wise lockdown affecting JEE Main & NET 2020 aspirants

In the letters, the parents have said, “It is apparently proposed that exposing candidates is an immediate danger to the prosperity of the family. As per an ongoing warning by the administration, schools, instruction and different establishments are approached to stay shut until July 31 in the nation.”
Authorities are yet to give a statement on JEE Main and NEET 2020
The wait of aspirants over the dates of JEE Main and NEET 2020 proceeds as the authorities are yet to announce the final schedule. After the cancellation of the CBSE results of Class 10 and 12, the MHRD had asked the NTA to reschedule dates of JEE Main and NEET.
NTA to release JEE Main and NEET 2020 admit card
The admit cards of the JEE Main and NEET 2020 will be released soon as the earlier rescheduled dates of the examinations are nearby. The applicants who have filled the application form can download the admit cards from the official websites, jeemain.nta.nic.in and ntaneet.nic.in.
Delay of JEE Main & NEET 2020
This year, the JEE (Main) April 2020 was delayed because of the uncommon conditions emerging from the Covid-19 pandemic. According to the changed calendar discharged by NTA, the JEE (Main) 2020 assessment for admission to undergrad programs in NITs, IIITs and other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), and so on will be conducted from July 18 to July 23, in two shifts.
Further, the dates of downloading of admit cards will be available 15 days prior to the entrance exam, reads an official notification.
Several states including Maharashtra, Nagaland, Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal have extended the lockdown as the coronavirus cases are still to be brought under control. The lockdown will continue until July 31, which only means that for the above-mentioned states, the NTA will have to re-think over the JEE and NEET 2020 entrance examinations of students.
