NTA changes JEE Main exam pattern 2020 – 5 numerical based questions and overall questions reduced

BENGALURU, September 3: JEE Main 2020 exam pattern has been revised by NTA. As per the revised JEE Main exam pattern 2020, the question booklet of B.E./B.Tech. will have a total of 75 questions from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Out of the total questions in JEE Main paper 1, each subject will have 20 objective type multiple choice questions along with 5 numerical based questions. Earlier, there were no numerical based questions asked in JEE Main. Also, the total number of questions in JEE Main 2020 paper 1 has been reduced to 75. Till last year the total number of questions asked in JEE Main paper 1 exam was 90.

Also, in JEE Main 2020 there will be separate question booklet for B.Arch. and Planning. However, till last year there was single question paper for the both exams. Moreover, candidates can also find changes in the paper pattern and types of questions to asked in B.Arch. and Planning.

The JEE Main exam pattern changed has been approved by the JEE Apex Board (JAB) after the recommendation from the opinion of subject experts. “As per the eligibility criteria for B.Arch and B.Planning courses and according to the opinion of Subject Experts, a few changes in the pattern of the question paper(s) and number of question(s) for B.E./B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Planning have been approved by the JEE Apex Board (JAB) for the conduct of JEE (Main)-2020 Examination” reads the notifications.

The examination authority has also released the JEE Main application form on September 3. The application form can be filled online till September 30, 2019. Candidates are advised to carefully go through the JEE Main notification before applying for the exam.

JEE Main 2020 is conducted for admission to nearly 25000 B. Tech/B. E. seats offered in  31 NITs, 25 IIITs and 28 GFTIs. Moreover, JEE Main result will also be the basis for selecting top 2,45,000 (approx..) for appearing in JEE Advanced for admission to nearly 11279 seats in 23 IITs. Apart from these, the JEE Main score is accepted by certain self-financed universities and institutions.
